Avatar Robot Session

Application for Avatar Robot Session is here!! (Deadline: 3 December 2015, 11:59 p.m. (JST))

Monday, Dec. 7th, 10:00-11:00, 11:10-12:10

ICAM 2015 will provide a unique FREE trial, where participants at remote places will have the opportunity to visit a poster presentation by the use of telepresence robot. “OriHime” robot, an avatar robot, is provided by Ory Laboratory Co., Ltd. (https://orihime.orylab.com/), a sponsor of ICAM 2015. The remote participant can operate “OriHime” robot, placed in front of a speaker and its poster, by using an app for iPhone or iPad. The participant can view the poster while listening to the presentation via video camera and microphone embedded in or connected to the robot. The participant can operate the head movement of “OriHime” toward whichever part the participant wants to view on the poster, and also can have a talk with the speaker while making simple head and hand gestures through the robot. “OriHime” robot doesn’t display the face of the remote participant, therefore, the speaker could make a presentation without being too nervous.

“OriHime” robot is available up to approximately 60 different posters during the “Avatar robot session” on 7th, 10:00-12:10. Participants who want to use the robot need to choose up to TWO specific posters per session and apply through the website in advance. The participants will be chosen by random draw, and they will have the opportunity to operate “OriHime” robot to be telepresent up to 15 minutes for each poster. In addition, any participants could have an experience to operate “OriHime” robot at the onsite booth of Ory Laboratory Co., Ltd. during this session.
